As pre Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney, the team and forward Taylor Hall have both expressed interest in getting the winger re-signed. Sweeney spoke with the media about the futures of forwards Hall and David Krejci and while Krejci’s future was a bit more uncertain, there seemed to be a good chance Hall would be back.

Sweeney says Hall has expressed interest in staying and the Bruins have responded in kind to having him stay. The GM said he had an early conversation with his representatives and said, “obviously, we’ll see where all the pieces have to fit together.”

Hall recently spoke with the media as well and noted that he wasn’t sure what his value was, but it wasn’t necessarily about money. He’s made his millions in the NHL and he’s looking more for the right fit with a team he can call home for the next few seasons. Of the potential to stick with the Bruins, Hall said, “I see a fit. Hopefully they feel the same. … Hopefully we can make something work. That’s obviously my goal.”

Clearly, if the Bruins can get Hall back at a good number, there’s no reason they wouldn’t bring him back.

Hall Was Productive, But Could Thrive in the Right Situation

Hall scored 8 goals and 14 points in 16 regular season games once he joined the team following a trade from the Buffalo Sabres. He added three goals and five points in 11 games during the playoffs. The Bruins believe he can be even more productive.

Sweeney said of Hall being around the team for an entire season: “I think the benefit of being here for the full season would be just to watch how hard a guy like Brad Marchand practices and plays every day of the season,” Noting that Hall has had some fantastic seasons but also been through some different scenarios throughout his career, he’s been inconsistent. Sweeney noted, “if he’s going to get back to that level, I think watching Marchy every day will be a huge benefit for him.”
