The Tampa Bay Lightning have struck a deal with the San Jose Sharks as they have acquired forward Anthony Duclair and a 2025 7th-round pick in exchange for Jack Thompson and a 3rd-round pick in this year’s draft. Duclair, who was acquired by the Sharks in a trade with the Florida Panthers last July, had 16 goals and 11 assists for 27 points in 56 games with San Jose. The Bolts will be the third team in the last three seasons for the Quebec Native and his eighth overall as he’s spent time with the New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Ottawa Senators , Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks playing in 546 games putting up 138 goals and 150 assists for 288 points. Duclair will fit very nicely into the middle six for the Lightning.

Jack Thompson has spent the last two seasons down in the AHL, playing in 118 games with the Syracuse Crunch, putting up 13 goals and 43 assists for 56 points over that period. The Sharks are looking to get younger so adding a 21-year-old defenseman is a solid addition for the team. Prior to the trade, San Jose had four picks in the first two rounds of the upcoming but only two in the following three rounds, but now the Sharks have at least one pick in the first five rounds.
