Teams reportedly calling Sabres with interest in Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres had a disastrous season, going 15-34-7 and missing the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season.

The franchise needs to make some changes, and it appears teams are beginning to check in with the Sabres about the availability of several players, including Jack Eichel, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Eichel missed most of the 2020-21 season after suffering a herniated disk in his neck. He finished the year with just two goals and 16 assists in 21 games.

The 24-year-old was drafted second overall by Buffalo in 2015. The Sabres hoped he would lead them back to the playoffs, but they've been just as bad since his arrival. However, Eichel has been a bright spot for the team over the years. The native of Massachusetts has notched 139 goals and 216 assists in 375 games played.

Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said last month that Eichel had not requested a trade, though the superstar forward has openly discussed a "disconnect" with the team regarding how to treat his neck injury.

In addition to Eichel, TSN reports there has been speculation regarding the futures of Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristolainen.
