The Edmonton Oilers made a big splash ahead of the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline when they acquired Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks.

In return, the Ducks receive a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 conditional fifth-round pick that can improve to a fourth-round pick should the Oilers win the Stanley Cup. The Ducks are retaining 50 percent of Henrique’s $5.825 million cap hit in the deal, with the Tampa Bay Lightning retaining an additional 25 percent in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

But don’t expect the Oilers to be done before Friday’s 3 p.m. EST deadline.

On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss Oilers’ President and General Manager Ken Holland’s last deadline in charge and what other moves the team could make before the deadline.

Tyler Yaremchuk: What’s your sense on how aggressive the Oilers could be ahead of Friday’s deadline?

Frank Seravalli: I think they are monitoring the market, I think they’re keeping tabs on a player like Seattle Kraken forward Jordan Eberle, which I reported this morning. If the Kraken and Eberle can’t agree to an extension, then he’ll be on the move, and what’s the cost to acquire him?

They’re definitely going to get a lower-cost defenseman, a No. 6 or No. 7 type of defenseman like the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired in Joel Edmundson.
