The Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill Re-Signs With the Club

What Has Jim Nill Meant to the Dallas Stars Organization?

Jim Nill has been able to supplant his stamp onto the organization. There have been many tactical trades, including for Sergei Gonchar or Tyler Seguin. These are the type of moves that turn his team into a perennial contender. They captured a scoring title when Jamie Benn won the Art Ross in 2014-15. Furthermore, they have plenty of team success. This past campaign they made it to game six of the Western Conference Finals, only to lose to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights. Also, only back in 2019-20, they made it to the Finals but were downed by the Tampa Bay Lightning.  However, perhaps most noteworthy under Nill’s tenure was the team’s 2017, franchise-altering draft. That year they managed to select Miro Heiskanen (3rd), Jake Oettinger (26th), and Jason Robertson (39th). Each of them has developed into nearly a franchise player in their own rights.

Whether it is in all the moves Nill has made or the success of his team. Jim Nill is definitely being properly recognized for all his career efforts in this as he signs his extension. He has been a very respected figure in NHL player development for a very long time. In addition, his work with the Stars, and their core group of players, have made them a contender.
