One of the hottest teams in the NHL right now is the team that had the hottest start to the season, and their run could not come at a more opportune time.

The Vegas Golden Knights hit a rough patch in the middle portion of the season, and despite going out and getting a lot of players at the trade deadline, they were down to the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Yet, the defending Stanley Cup champions have recovered mightily over the last month, and have reeled off wins in each of their their last three games, with Vegas winning six of its last seven games.

The Golden Knights (42-25-8) are starting to look more like the favorite to repeat as champions that many expected heading into the season. After the brief spell, Vegas is back up to third in the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the fourth-place Los Angeles Kings, and only three behind the Edmonton Oilers for second.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk look at what has been working for Vegas over the last few weeks.

Tyler Yaremchuk: They’re only getting healthier, and the idea that they’re going to be a massive problem for whoever they get in round one, that is a legit issue.

Frank Seravalli: I’ve been saying this for the last month—the Golden Knights are just beginning to get the results, but they’ve played much better hockey over the last month. Their process has been there, and their attention to detail has been much better.

There’s a lot of questions for a team that has been playing well, and has the Cup pedigree that just seems like it’s kind of playing a card from the Tampa Bay Lightning deck. Which is flipping a switch at the right time of the year.
