It might not last for a long stretch, but it seems as though the Pittsburgh Penguins will have to rely on Magnus Hellberg as their starting goalie for a stint of games.

Backup goalie Alex Nedeljkovic is on injured reserve and Penguins starting netminder Tristan Jarry is seemingly dealing with an upper-body injury.

Jarry departed the 2-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks early in place of Hellberg who stepped up in relief.

Hellberg made 11 saves in his effort and helped seal a combined shutout with Jarry; but with Jarry’s health uncertain, eyes are turning to Hellberg.

“Every opportunity I get to showcase myself,” Hellberg said. “Who I am as a goalie and who I am as a person, it’s always great. I just try to live in the moment and play my part in all of this.”

Hellberg did mention that he is planning for a start and will be ready for whatever comes his way.

A massive goalie, standing at 6-foot-6, Hellberg has made two appearances with the Penguins so far this season, both coming in relief of Jarry.

In 56 total minutes of ice, Hellberg has only allowed a pair of goals and holds a .929 save percentage.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but it seems as if Hellberg will stat against the Kings, and the Penguins could be recalling prospect goalie Joel Blomqvist to play backup
