Two NHL team total bets for Thursday, Jan. 4

We're going to once again be keeping it simple in the NHL market, doing nothing more than rooting on goals with no regard for who gets involved in the fun. We also do realize many people prefer betting on player props, so I've found a middle ground. I've got two plays here, a pair of two-leggers, but I will also highlight the player who looks best to me for a point. Sound fair? Terrific.

1u: Rangers over 3.5 goals, Flyers over 2.5 goals (+105 DK)

New York is averaging 3.6 goals per game at home over the last month, but this bet is far more because the Chicago Blackhawks are allowing an absurd 5.7 (!) goals per game across the last 30 days as the visiting team.

Factor in that the Rangers have a decisive power-play edge here, and they should have no issue pouring on goals tonight. New York has 6+ in two of their past three against Chicago. Fresh off a 6-1 home loss, I'm thinking the Rangers take out their frustrations tonight on this poor Blackhawks squad.

I'm pairing with Philly to find three goals this evening. The Flyers are coming off a grueling road trip that saw them drop four of five. Back at home, I'm expecting a spirited effort against a Columbus team allowing the most shots per game on the road and 4.6 goals/game over the last month. Philadelphia has won four straight against the Blue Jackets, scoring 4+ goals each time.

Rangers point prop to consider: Mika Zibanejad
Flyers point prop to consider: Travis Konecny

1u: Stars over 2.5 goals, Kraken over 2.5 goals (+105 Fanatics)

This Dallas-Colorado game should be a ton of fun, and I feel good about the Stars finding the back of the net. The Avalanche have allowed 3+ goals in eight of their past 10 on the road, explaining their 3.8 goals allowed/game average over the past month when away.

Dallas has been steady, scoring 3+ goals in nine of their last 10 games.

I'll tack on Seattle to go over 2.5 goals against Ottawa. The Senators have allowed 4.3 goals per game on the road across the last 30 days, with some big defensive letdowns littered throughout their recent performances. The Kraken seem to finding their groove, winners of five straight games. Seattle has 3+ goals in four of five games against Ottawa.

Stars point prop to consider: Jason Robertson
Kraken point prop to consider: Vince Dunn

Good luck tonight!
