Following the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 loss in Game 2 to the Nashville Predators, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet spoke to the media and noted that goaltender Thatcher Demko will be out week-to-week.

On Tuesday morning a bombshell tweet was dropped by Frank Seravalli indicating that Demko could be out the remainder of the series and would miss game 2.

It was shocking news to the hockey world considering Demko gave up two goals on 24 shots in Game 1 on Sunday night, helping the Canucks get the early jump in the series over the Predators with a 4-2 win and looked great between the pipes.

The 28-year-old remained healthy for most of the 2023-24 regular season until a knee injury on March 9 sidelined him out of the lineup for over a month, and Vancouver placed him on long-term injured reserve. Reports were noted that there is no correlation between Demko’s previous injury and the new one.

Demko posted a 35-14-2 record in 51 games played this season, with a 2.45 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage and five shutouts. The San Diego, California products play helped the Canucks clinch a division title for the first time in 11 years.

Meanwhile, defenseman Tyler Myers also missed Tuesday night’s game, he was sidelined with the flu. Myers notched 29 points in 77 games during the 2023-24 regular season.

The series now heads to Nashville tied up at 1-1 with the Predators heading into home-ice advantage. With DeSmith giving up three goals on 15 shots, the Canucks could turn to Artus Silovs for Friday night’s matchup.
