Las Vegas Golden Knights center Nicolas Roy Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Vegas Golden Knights have re-signed restricted free agent forward via Twitter Nicolas Roy to a five-year contract, Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli reported Monday.

Roy, 25, scored 15 goals and 39 points in 78 games with the Golden Knights during the 2021–22 regular season. His new contract reportedly extends through 2027 and carries an annual cap hit of $3 million.

The Carolina Hurricanes originally selected Roy in the fourth round (No. 96 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The 6’4″, 205-pound center played in the Hurricanes organization until 2019, when he was traded to Vegas with a 2021 fifth-round pick in exchange for Erik Haula.

Roy established himself as an NHL regular with the Golden Knights in 2020–21, appearing in 50 of 56 games during the regular season before scoring four goals and nine points in 19 playoff games.

This past season, Roy finished fourth among all Vegas forwards in points and sixth in goals. The Amos, Quebec product logged a career-high 16:15 per game and went 48.8% in the faceoff dot.

In 163 career regular-season games with Carolina and Vegas, Roy has scored 26 goals and 64 points. He’s one of only three Knights forwards signed for the next five seasons — Mark Stone and William Karlsson are the others.
