Watch: Blackhawks rookie sensation Connor Bedard scores incredible lacrosse-style goal

Chicago Blackhawks No. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard entered the NHL with massive expectations. His arrival has been anticipated for two years with the hope he would be a franchise-changing talent for whatever team drafted him.

Not even halfway through his rookie season he is already proving that he is worthy of that hype. On Saturday Bedard created one of his best highlights yet when he scored this incredible lacrosse-style goal in the first period of their 7-5 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

That was Bedard's 13th goal of the season and easily his best one to date. It is also one of the best goals in the NHL this season. That lacrosse-style move has become more popular in recent years, but it is still an incredibly difficult play to pull off during a live game situation.

Bedard made it look easy.

He now has 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in his first 33 games. The problem for the Blackhawks is that for as great as Bedard has immediately been, the rest of the team around him is still very much in the early stages of a rebuilding phase. It is simply not a good roster.

That was very much on display on Saturday, as the Blackhawks allowed St. Louis to score five consecutive goals in the third period to turn what had been a 5-2 Blackhawks lead into a 7-5 Blues win.
