WATCH: Jordin Tootoo lays knockout punch on Brad Malone

In one of the many tense scenes in the film version of "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," evil ex-boyfriend No. 3 punches Scott's girlfriend Knives Chau so hard that he knocks the blue highlights out of her hair.

A similar feat occurred when the New Jersey Devils' Jordin Tootoo layed this haymaker on the Carolina Hurricanes' Brad Malone. The uppercut, as CBS Sports points out, appears to knock the decals off of the Carolina forward's visor.

Helmet-busting aside, this is still one nasty scrum. The Devils' winger dropped his gloves in the second frame of Thursday night's contest, with New Jersey leading the home team 4-1 at PNC Arena. The fight itself wasn't too big of a shock, given that both players have tendencies toward throwing their mitts down to the ice. Malone has three fighting majors on the season, and Tootoo has five. (Tootoo's five majors reportedly make up almost half of the Devils' major penalty minutes in the first couple months of the season.)

What makes this a jaw-dropper is the way Tootoo southpaws Malone right on the button to send him crumpling onto the ice, ending the fight immediately.

The video shows Malone leave the ice and head to the dressing room following the hit, looking to still be shaking off the cartoon stars circling his head.
