Watch: Lightning goalie distracted by fart during interview

Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was temporarily distracted during his postgame interview Monday night after someone in the locker room farted.

The culprit remained unknown during the video clip posted by Bally Sports, but the incident was enough to cause plenty of chuckles and seemed to sidetrack the 29-year-old netminder.

After beginning his answer, the fart happens, Vasilevskiy immediately cracks into a smile and bursts out laughing and says: "What was the question?"

It was already a chipper locker room atmosphere, as the exchange with reporters came following a 4-0 Lightning win over the Dallas Stars and the former Vezina Trophy winner's first shutout of the season. The unexpected flatulence made things even lighter and more relaxed.

Monday was only Vasilevskiy's fifth game (fifth start) of the season, as he's worked as the backup to offseason acquisition Jonas Johansson. With more performances like Monday, however, the 2012 first-round pick may soon earn more playing time.

Vasilevskiy was coming off a brutal showing in Tampa Bay's 8-1 loss to the Stars on Saturday, allowing six goals, but he's still under 30 and all five of his All-Star Game appearances have come since 2018. Through his limited time on ice this season, Vasilevskiy is averaging a career-worst 3.03 goals against.

He's not alone in the struggles, as Johansson is allowing an average of 3.44 goals per game and leads the NHL in goals against (63).
