Watch: Sabres beat Oilers twice in one game thanks to replay review

The Buffalo Sabres were 3-2 shootout winners over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon, and they ended up having to beat them twice thanks to an instant replay review.

Sabres defenseman Owen Power thought he had scored the game-winning goal in overtime. In the closing seconds of the 3-on-3 overtime period, he scored a buzzer-beating goal. The Sabres celebrated, the Oilers were stunned and both teams retreated to their locker rooms.

The only problem? A replay review determined that the play was offside, negating the goal and requiring both teams to return from their locker rooms to finish the game.

That gave the Oilers a second chance.

Unfortunately, Edmonton came up short in the shootout and still lost the game.

It just was not a very conventional path to get there.
