There’s no longer room for any doubt: Moritz Seider is for real.

The Detroit Red Wings defenseman scored his second career overtime game-winning goal in Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders, clinching a fifth consecutive victory for his team.

Seider now ranks fourth on the Red Wings — and 10th among all National Hockey League defensemen — with 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 25 games. Two of Seider’s three NHL goals have come in overtime.

Pius Suter and Filip Zadina picked up the helpers on Seider’s game-winner, which came at the 3:33 mark of overtime. After collecting 10 of a possible 10 points in their last five contests, the Red Wings now sit fourth in the Atlantic Division — just three points behind the reigning Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning and four points clear of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Here’s the video of the goal, as posted to Twitter by Bally Sports Detroit:

Filip Hronek, Sam Gagner, and Givani Smith also scored for Detroit in the victory. Oliver Wahlstrom tallied twice for the Islanders, with Cal Clutterbuck picking up the other goal.

Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 20 of the 23 shots he faced at the Red Wings’ end for his seventh win in his last nine starts. Nedeljkovic now has an 8–3–3 record and a .920 save percentage this season.

The Red Wings will look to extend their team winning streak to six games on Dec. 7 when they play host to the Nashville Predators at 7:00 p.m. ET.
