Watch: Sharks make NHL history with back-to-back OT comeback wins

The San Jose Sharks made unique NHL history on Thursday, knocking off the Detroit Red Wings, 6-5, to post their second consecutive come-from-behind win in overtime.

Down 4-0 in the second period, the Sharks made a furious comeback, capped off by forward Mikael Granlund's game-winning goal only 37 seconds into the extra session. Per OptaStats, the Sharks are the first team to post back-to-back OT victories in games where they trailed by three or more goals.

On Dec. 5, the Sharks trailed the New York Islanders 4-1 in the third period before scoring four unanswered, including the OT winner.

The Sharks aren't too far removed from being the league's laughingstock. A little over a month into the season, the team was playing at historically bad levels, losing each of their first 11 games to open the year 0-10-1. However, following Thursday's dramatic win, they're playing much better, sporting an 8-7-1 mark over their last 16.
