The Minnesota Wild picked up a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night but it didn't come without some mischief involving Sidney Crosby and Brock Faber.

The incident came in the second period when Crosby was chasing down a puck with Faber. As the two went into the corner, Crosby raised his stick and slammed Faber's face into the boards as he crashed to the ice.

There was no call on the play and Crosby was free to roam until he tied the game at 2-2 with a power play goal early in the third period.

Faber and the Wild had the last laugh, however, as he continued his campaign for the Calder Trophy. Faber recorded an assist on Matt Boldy's goal in the first period for his 11th point in the past nine games and leads all NHL rookies in assists (27) , blocked shots (102) and time on ice (24:58 per game) while ranking second among rookies in scoring (31 points) behind Chicago's Connor Bedard.

The assist also set a Wild record for a rookie defenseman, passing Filip Kuba, who had 30 points in 75 games during his rookie season in 2000-01.

The Wild wound up winning the game later when Kirill Kaprizov's 20th goal of the season at 9:34 of the third period. The win helped Minnesota move within three points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference ahead of Monday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
