Watch: Wild D Alex Goligoski uses hockey stick for first pitch at Twins game
The Minnesota Wild open up their 2022-2023 regular season in just less than one month. The Minnesota Twins are currently in a three-team race for the AL Central crown with 20 games remaining in their regular season.
The local nine welcomed one of the Wild's standout defenseman to the ballpark on Thursday ahead of their contest against the lowly Kansas City Royals to "throw out" a very unique first "pitch." The Twins went on to win the game 3-2 to cap off a three-game sweep.
Goligoski is entering his 16th NHL season and second in Minnesota. He signed with the Wild in July 2021 and this past March, agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract extension with the club.
The 37-year-old Goligoski finished the 2021-2022 campaign with two goals, 28 assists, 30 points and a team-best plus/minus of 41 across 72 games played.
