Wild give winger Jordan Greenway three-year, $9 million deal

Minnesota Wild forward Jordan Greenway will not be hitting restricted free agency later this year, after all.

Wild general manager Bill Guerin announced Monday that Greenway and the club have come to terms on a three-year contract extension worth $9 million that carries an average annual value of $3 million. The agreement runs through the 2024-25 NHL season.

Thus far for the current campaign, Greenway has four goals and nine assists over 33 games. Per ESPN stats, the 24-year-old is sixth on the team with a plus-17 rating, and he's third with 82 hits, according to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Greenway has been attached to the Wild since the franchise selected him 50th overall in the 2015 draft. He's appeared in 243 career regular-season NHL contests and has recorded 30 goals and 68 assists for Minnesota.

Minnesota has picked up some positive momentum since the start of the new year and has gone 8-0-1 in its past nine games and won five in a row to improve to 27-10-3. The third-place Wild trail the first-place Colorado Avalanche by 10 points in the Central Division standings and play at the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday night in their last matchup before the upcoming All-Star break.
