After their 6-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, the Los Angeles Kings are 35-22-11 with 81 points, third in the Pacific Division and two points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights, who currently hold the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

As the two teams battle for a better spot in the standings, the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues aren’t far behind, trying to push one or both of the Kings or Golden Knights out for a spot int he playoffs. With less than 15 games to go for all the teams, it’ll be a race to the end to see who comes out on top.

But after the volume of trades that the Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks made before the March 8 Trade Deadline, some wonder if the Kings could have done more to bolster their lineup come playoff time.

On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk is joined by former NHLers Carton Hutton and Luke Gazdic to discuss the Kings’ lack of moves before the Trade Deadline, and if they should have done more to solidify a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Now that we’re a few weeks past the Trade Deadline, you could look at Los Angeles and say they should have done more. When you look around the league, is there one team that regrets what they did or didn’t do?

Luke Gazdic: I think you nailed it: it’s L.A. I remember sitting there after the deadline passed and waiting for a Kings deal to come through. Look around the Pacific Division, and Vegas got better. The Vancouver Canucks got better. The Edmonton Oilers got better.

I was waiting to hear a name that was going there that would add another dimension to their lineup, and it never came.
