Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff announced Monday that the club has signed Nino Niederreiter to a three-year, $12M contract extension. The contract will carry an average annual value (AAV) of $4M and will begin in the 2024-25 season.

Niederreiter has played all 23 games for the Jets this season and has registered six goals and eight assists for 14 points in that frame, which is good for sixth on the club.

Niederreiter was in the final year of a two-year, $8M contract extension he signed with David Poile and the Nashville Predators in July 2022.

The New York Islanders originally drafted the Chur, Switzerland native in the first round, No. 5 overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded 211 goals and 212 assists for 423 points in 833 games with the Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Nashville Predators, and Winnipeg. Niederreiter has also played 87 playoff contests and recorded 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points and 58 PIMs.

Niederreiter played junior hockey in Switzerland before making the transition to North America to play in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Portland Winterhawks. While with the Winterhawks, he tallied 77 goals and 53 assists for 130 points in 120 career games.

On the international stage, Niederreiter has represented Switzerland on several occasions, highlighted by the 2010 World Juniors and the 2014 Winter Olympics. He was named an All-Star for the Swiss at the 2010 World Juniors after recording six goals and 10 points in seven games to help them to a fourth-place finish. Niederreiter also played for Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey where he had an assist in six games as they lost in the final to Canada.
