The Boston Bruins head into a three-game road trip starting on Tuesday, and they will do so with two stars back in their roster and traveling with the rest of the team for the first time in weeks.
Defenseman Charlie McAvoy, following facial surgery , and star forward David Pastrnak returned to practice Monday in non-contact jerseys and boarded the Bruins' flight to St. Louis.
Boston opens the trip Tuesday against the Blues before stops in Winnipeg and Minnesota later this week. The team ruled Pastrnak out of a previous trip at the start of December, but the star forward is now back with the group after missing time since he last played on Nov. 26.
David Pastrnak says he will travel on the Bruins’ three-game road trip this week and expects to play at some point on the trip.

Pastrnak spoke after Monday's practice when he skated with his teammates for the first time since his injury.
“It [stinks]. I’m happy I was back out there today,” Pastrnak said. “Felt great. See how I feel tomorrow. I’ve been pretty fortunate the last couple years, so just want to get back out there.”
Pastrnak has appeared in 25 games this season, recording 29 points with 11 goals and 18 assists.
The forward said he initially thought he would be able to play the next game after getting hurt against the New York Islanders, but the injury lingered longer than expected.
“When the injury happened, I honestly thought I will be playing next game and I wasn’t able to,” Pastrnak said. “So, something new. It’s tough. But at the end of the day, I’ve been able to work on my game outside of the ice, too. The trainer’s doing a great job. Feel good now.”
Sturm said the Bruins want both Pastrnak and McAvoy to re-enter the lineup only when fully ready, noting the need to keep the team's structure and the current consistency of play intact as they return.
“We just have to make sure nothing will change,” Sturm said. “The guys who are coming back, they have to find their way back in the lineup, playing the same way.”
The Bruins have gone 4–2–0 in their past six games, all of them without Pastrnak and McAvoy, climbing into a tie for second in the Atlantic Division at 17-13-0.
Boston will face the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, with puck drop set for 8 p.m. ET.
