Canucks GM Patrik Allvin was recently interviewed about the future of Brock Boeser, and he stated that he would like to keep him and will see what they can do.

Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin is allegedly opening the door again to a possible reunion with pending free agent Brock Boeser, introducing a new twist to their entrenched contract drama, according to Patrick Johnston of 'The Province'.

Speaking to a season-ticket holder group, Allvin was queried several times about the future of Boeser.

So, where does the franchise stand on the idea of keeping Boeser in Vancouver? Allvin simply stated, 'We're going to see if there's a chance to keep Brock Boeser.'

He reiterated the team's need for goal-scorers, something Boeser completely supplies, despite previous suggestions that there was to be a breakup between the player and the team.

Even though there is still time for Vancouver to attempt to negotiate an extension with Boeser and his agent, Ben Hankinson, the chances of a hometown discount appear unlikely.

With free agency looming and Boeser just having completed a career-best 40 goals and 73 points, his worth is highest, and he may command top dollar on the open market.

Boeser initially turned down $40 million a few months ago

Boeser allegedly turned down a five-year, $40 million deal from the Canucks last February, suggesting that he and his agent are in the opinion that he can earn more, especially with the growing salary cap.

He was a highly sought-after player during the trade deadline, but remained with Vancouver due to a hefty price. Boeser publicly announced last April that the possibility of him remaining beyond this season was slim.

'Honestly, it's unlikely at this point. It sucks, it's unfortunate. I'm just trying to play good hockey, and then I'll worry about everything after that. We all know it's been a roller coaster of a year. There's been a lot of different things.'

Although there has been some tension and previous uncertainty, Allvin's recent comments suggest the door is not closed. Whether that leads to a deal or Boeser venturing into free agency remains to be seen.
