Dallas Stars Linked to Nazem Kadri

The Dallas Stars are off to a hot start to the 2025-26 season. The only thing in their way is the start the Colorado Avalanche have gotten off to. The Stars trail the Avalanche by four points for the best record in all of hockey. With the season going the way it has, the trade speculations have started earlier than they have in years past, with some teams falling out before reaching the 30-game mark. One of those teams is the Calgary Flames, who have been rumored to be shopping forward Nazem Kadri.

The Stars have now started to snoop around on Kadri as they look to make a deal and make their roster better to try to not only catch but pass the Avalanche. Kadri has four more years left on his contract, including this season. He carries a $7 million AAV and has a no-movement clause, so he would have to approve a trade to wherever the Flames look to deal him. Kadri, in 27 games this season, has 21 points on five goals and 16 assists. He’s a -11 with a power-play goal and a game-winning goal.

Nazem Kadri

The 35-year-old forward is in the 17th season of his NHL career. The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted him seventh overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He spent ten seasons with the Maple Leafs, then three seasons with the Avalanche, before spending the last four with the Flames. In 1,012 career games, he has 731 points on 312 goals and 419 assists. He’s a -61 for his career with 94 power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and 45 game-winning goals.

He won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche back in 2021-22, which was the last season he had been to the playoffs. In 16 games that Cup run he had 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. He was a plus-seven with two power-play goals and two game-winning goals. In 52 career playoff games, he has 44 points on 19 goals and 25 assists. He’s a +15 with eight power-play goals and seven game-winning goals.
