The Kalamazoo Wings suffered a 5-2 loss to the Toledo Walleye on Saturday Night, but that wasn’t the only loss they took as two players left the game with injuries.

Hunter Vorva Leaves Game With Lower-Body Injury

The Kalamazoo Wings announced that goaltender Hunter Vorva left Saturday’s game after the first period with a lower-body injury. Vorva allowed two goals on 15 shots before leaving the game. This is a massive loss for the K-Wings, who are now down to just one goaltender, Luke Pavicich, who signed with Kalamazoo on Saturday . Kalmazoo has now lost three goaltenders in the course of 48 hours after Jonathan Lemieux and Aku Koskenvuo were both recalled to the Abbotsford Canucks. Expect Kalamazoo to find an E-Bug to back up Pavicich on Sunday.

The Kalamazoo, Michigan, native is in his fourth season with the K-Wings. In 81 career games, Vorva has a record of 41-27-4 with a 2.67 GAA, .917SV%, and five shutouts.

Orlando Mainolfi Leaves Game With Injury

Vorva wouldn’t be the only one to leave the game with an injury, as Orlando Mainolfi was ruled out after the second period with a lower-body injury. Mainolfi, 25, picked up his first two career assists in Friday’s game against the Toledo Walleye.

The rookie winger signed with the K-Wings this summer after spending the last four seasons in USports at Acadia University. In 88 games with the Axemen, the Richmond, Ontario native had four goals and seven assists for 11 points. He would add two assists in 13 USports playoff games. Prior to playing in USports, Mainolfi played two years of junior hockey in the QMJHL. During his time in the QMJHL with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, he had four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 85 games. Mainolfi had one assist in three games during the 2021 QMJHL playoffs.
