Golden Knights Coach Bruce Cassidy Slams Officiating Following Controversial No-Call in OT Loss to Oilers

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy slammed the officiating in Game 2 after a controversial no-call in overtime led to a loss against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Edmonton Oilers won last night and are now in a 2-0 lead over the Golden Knights in the second round of the playoffs. This was the Oilers' sixth straight win in the playoffs, coming back from behind in the game.

The Golden Knights are now in a tough situation: the team will need to win tomorrow night to avoid facing elimination next Monday.

In his post-game press conference, Bruce Cassidy, the Golden Knights head coach, wasn't happy with the officiating and had a lot to say about a missed call in overtime that led to the Oilers' game-winning goal.

Indeed, the refs didn't call a penalty on Viktor Arvidsson after he sent Brayden McNabb to the locker room with an injury. Arvidsson and McNabb were trying to control the puck near the boards, and the Oilers forward pushed McNabb into the boards, who collapsed on the ice.

Of course, in the playoffs, referees don't call every penalty. However, when it seems to have a direct impact on the game's result, it creates a lot of frustration for players and fans.

Here's what Cassidy had to say on the matter:

'Well, it sucks to lose a player like that. He's a big part of our team, so we'll see where that goes. I don't know what his status will be.
Listen, the ref was looking at it-he blew it. He missed the call. I don't know what else to say. I mean, it's a can-opener trip. It's a dangerous play. It's all those things, but it didn't get called, so you've got to keep playing.

And you know, McNabb is probably one of the most popular teammates in the room, so that's the tough part-playing through it. It's not as easy as it looks. We're human, right?

But at the end of the day, that's the task in front of you when those calls happen-or don't happen. They made a play and capitalized on it. So yeah, it hurts. It stings to lose that way.
