The complete Edmonton Oilers schedule is now out. With the start of the season just under three months away, they definitely have an interesting year set up.

What does their schedule look like? Let’s find out below.

Battle of Alberta

What a way to start the season with a Battle of Alberta (BOA) matchup against the Calgary Flames at home on Wednesday October 8 at 8:00pm. The provincial rivalry has proven to be a fan favourite over the years and it looks like we will be treated to it four times this season; last year, there were only three games.

The additional games are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, December 23 at 7:00 pm MDT, at Rogers Place

Saturday, December 27 at 8:00 pm MDT, at the Calgary Saddledome

Wednesday, February 4 at 8:00 pm MDT, at the Calgary Saddledome

Road Games galore

It looks like the Oilers are going to have to mentally prepare for lots of travel, as they are going to have to play 17 of their first 26 games on the road. Lucky enough for them, 14 of those 17 games are against non-division teams. Three of the road games are against one of either the Seattle Kraken or Vancouver Canucks.

Those games are scheduled like this:

Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 pm, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle

Sunday, October 26 at 7:00 pm, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver

Saturday, November 29 at 1:00 pm, at Climate Pledge Arena

Key games against rivals

The best time of the season is when the Oilers play against their rivals. The teams that Edmonton would consider rivals are the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, and of course the defending champion Florida Panthers.

These notable games are on these dates:

Calgary: October 8, December 23 and 27, February 4

Vancouver: October 11 and 26, January 17, April 16 (Season finale)

Los Angeles: January 10, February 26, April 11

Golden Knights: December 21, March 8 and 26, April 4

Panthers: November 22 and March 19

Longest home and away games

The Oilers will see some stretches of games where they get the opportunity to enjoy the comfort of their homes for a couple of days. There will also be quite a few days that will be spent on the road consistently. In the first half of the season, the Oilers will have two five-game road trips and their longest road trip of seven games. At home, they will have a five-game homestead and their longest at eight games, which takes place in the second half of the season.

The games are set up in this way:

Road trips:

Five of their first seven games are on the road from October 14 through 21. Seven straight games from November 12 through 22, with an eighth-road game being played on November 29–eight of nine games. The final five-game road trip is going to be played from December 13 to 20. In the first half of the season alone, 24 of the 41 games will be played in opposing arenas.

Home games:

Five straight games will be played at home from December 2 to 11, with six of seven games from November 25 to December 11, all being home games. The Oilers will have their eight-game homestead take place in the second half of the season, from January 18 to February 3. In the month of January, 11 of the 15 games will be played at Rogers Place.

Notable opposing star player games

It is always going to be a great game when some of the best players from across the ;eague come to Edmonton to face off against the Oilers. Here are some notable games to keep an eye on.

Sidney Crosby: Thursday, January 22 at 7:00 pm

Alex Ovechkin: Saturday, January 24 at 8:00 pm

Nathan MacKinnon: Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 pm and Monday, April 13 at 7:30 pm

Connor Bedard: Saturday, November 1 at 8:00 pm and Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 pm

Auston Matthews: Tuesday, February 3 at 6:30 pm

Nikita Kucherov: Saturday, March 21 at 8:00 pm

2026 Olympic Break

The biggest moment of this upcoming season, is the fact that the Olympic Games will be taking place from February 6 until February 22, 2026. Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, Evan Bouchard, and Stuart Skinner are the four Oilers who could be playing for Canada in the upcoming Olympics. Leon Draisaitl will most likely be playing for Germany at that time. Mattias Ekholm is going to be on Sweden’s roster and Mattias Janmark might be joining him as well. Finally, Kasperi Kapanen is another Oiler who should be playing for Finland in the Olympics.

Some Oilers prospects who could earn their spot on their respective rosters, are Issac Howard, Quinn Hutson, Matthew Savoie, David Tomásek, Joshua Samanski, and Roby Järventie, to name a few.

How does the schedule look?

My final thoughts on the Edmonton Oilers schedule that has been announced, is that most of their home games are taking place in the 2026 portion of the schedule, whereas last year the majority of Oilers home games were in the first half of the season. A hot take, is that the league is rigging the schedule in the Oilers favour by getting all of their Eastern Conference road games out of the way early.

The Oilers will also have 13 back-to-back games to play throughout the season. Here are those dates:

October 18 and 19, 25 and 26

November 3 and 4, 12 and 13, 19 and 20

December 13 and 14, 20 and 21

January 12 and 13, 17 and 18

February 3 and 4, 25 and 26

March 12 and 13

April 7 and 8

What are your first thoughts on the Oilers schedule? And, how do you think they will do this season? Let us know in the comments!
