As the playoffs continue to progress, NHL rumors are taking a back seat to the action. Here’s a few tidbits to digest about John Tortorella and some potential trade buzz.

John Tortorella open to management?

We really haven’t heard much about John Tortorella in all the latest coaching news and rumors. Names that have been in the news are Gerard Gallant and Rick Tocchet which have both been interviewed by the New York Rangers.

Other names in the rumor mill are David Quinn as a possible candidate for the Blue Jackets job and Bruce Boudreau potential with the Sabres. Just not a lot when it comes to the winningest US Born coaches in NHL history.

From what I could gather from a knowledgeable source, John Tortorella is open for a management position. I’m not ruling out a Torts return behind the bench, but it could explain why we haven’t heard his name as much as others yet.

The big question now is if there will be any management positions to open up this summer? If any do, will Torts make the move to GM? Interesting notion to say the least.

Nazem Kadri on the trade block

The Avalanche may be moving on from Nazem Kadri this offseason. The recently suspended center may be exposed to the Seattle Kraken in the draft, if they opt not to bite he could be traded.

If the Avalanche make Kadri available to Seattle in the expansion draft, do the Kraken select him? And if not, would the Flames make another bid for his services? Remember, the Flames had a deal in place for Kadri a couple of years back that would have sent Toronto TJ Brodie, and Kadri nixed it …

The Athletic

Kadri is 30 years-old and has one more season on his contract with an AAV of $4.5 million. This season he recorded 11 goals and 32 points in 56 games, and will certainly garner some interest if he’s available.
