The NHL rumor mill just got an interesting nugget with regards to Steven Stamkos. According to Elliotte Friedman in his latest 31 Thoughts Blog, he noted that Tampa asked Stamkos to waive his no trade clause.
“I do believe Stamkos was asked to consider waiving his no-move by Tampa Bay,” Friedman wrote. “There’s a wall of secrecy around it, and the captain is recovering from surgery. Obviously, his health is a huge factor.”
So could we see Stamkos moved this offseason in order for the Lightning to retain RFA’s Anthony Cirelli and Mikhail Sergachev? Should that happen it would take Tampa eating some of Stammer’s heavy cap hit at $8.5 million AAV.
Nashville’s GM went on record saying they are not done making signings on the market. The Predators were rumored to be in on Taylor Hall but missed out. Now the expectation is they will be going all in for Mike Hoffman.
