Peter DeBoer says Jack Eichel’s injury is a 'huge concern'

The Vegas Golden Knights finally won a game on Thursday, but it came at a cost.

The team picked up a 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers, putting an end to a five-game losing streak that ultimately saw them dip to ninth in the Western Conference in terms of points percentage.

While the win was a huge relief, the Golden Knights got some bad news. Jack Eichel left the game in the second period after blocking a shot with his arm. On Friday, head coach Peter DeBoer said that Eichel’s injury is a “huge concern” and that he’s doubtful for Vegas’ game on Saturday.

Eichel has played in just 15 games this season as he underwent surgery to have an artificial disc placed in his neck back in November. He has five goals and five assists during that time with the Golden Knights and the team is 5-9-1 with him in the lineup.

Vegas’ next game is a big one, as they’re hosting the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night. L.A. currently holds down the second spot in the Pacific Division and the Golden Knights trail them by six points.

This will be the last time Vegas and L.A. square off in the regular season and the Golden Knights could use a win to help catch them in the standings.
