The on-ice officials are facing scrutiny from fans after a controversial call ruling allowed what appeared to be a kicked-puck stand as a Stars go-ahead goal.

The Dallas Stars beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 at American Airlines Center, re-taking a 1-game series lead.

But the on-ice officials are facing scrutiny from Jets fans after a lengthy video replay ruling didn't go their way. Stars defenseman Alexander Petrovic appeared to kick the puck at the side of the net, and it made its way past the stick of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck into the net.

After a video review that lasted nearly 10 minutes, the goal was allowed to stand after the officials ruled it deflected off a stick before entering the net rather than going straight in from Petrovic's kicking motion.

This ruling wasn't sitting well with fans, who felt that the goal should have been disallowed.

Mason Marchment in big trouble?

Stars forward Mason Marchment could be facing some steep punishment from the National Hockey League after video replays show that he gave a whack to the shin of the on-ice referee during today's Game 3 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Analyst Elliotte Friedman pointed out that Marchment's anger was building after he felt that he didn't get a penalty call in a pair of separate incidents.

Former NHL goaltender Kelly Hrudey chimed in, saying that Marchment's actions are completely unacceptable.

You can't make contact with an official under any circumstances. You can be as frustrated as humanly possible, but you can't contact them.

As the game comes to a close it will be interesting to see if either team addresses the questionable officiating and its impact on tonight's game.
