It sounds like some of the media in Buffalo have come to grips with the fact that forward Sam Reinhart is on his way out the door. If not, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to bad-mouth a player who might be sticking around, thus creating future issues for the team and the media when it comes to that player.

Sabres Reporter for WGR Sports Radio 550 Paul Hamilton was talking talking about how unpleasant Reinhart can be with the media. He notes that the player also been rude to team personnel like PR people, trainers and equipment staff and the hint here is that, perhaps, the Buffalo Sabres are tired of the act and that’s one of the reasons the organization might be thinking about making a deal to send him elsewhere.

Hamilton admitted that he’s only seeing Reinhart when media are allowed in the locker room, so he’s not sure what the players relationship is like with teammates, but added that in the short window he has seen Reinhart interacting with media and other team personnel, has has often been rude and difficult.

What’s interesting is the response to the comments, some saying they’ve seen Reinhart’s attitude in media conferences not been positive. Others have come to bat for the player and noted that he’s being prodded by the media while on a bad team and it’s extremely tiring to have to answer leading questions when you know the team is terrible.

Does This Slow a Potential Reinhart Trade?

Questions about whether or not these reports will scare off another team are sure to surface but there’s probably little to worry about. Most GMs, if they even believe these reports, will see Reinhart’s attitude as a product of being part of a losing franchise and lousy team culture. Just look at how Taylor Hall responded on the ice to getting out of Buffalo. There’s something in the water there and other teams will be confident a change of scenery will do Reinhart a world of good.
