Report: Alabama close to hiring Doug Marrone as OL coach

Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone might have found another job in football. However, it's not in the NFL.

According to ESPN's Chris Low, Alabama is close to hiring Marrone as its new offensive line coach. The Crimson Tide hopes to finalize a deal with him soon.

The Jaguars fired Marrone in January after a 1-15 season. The 56-year-old spent the last six seasons in Jacksonville and four as head coach. He went 23-43, leading the team to the AFC Championship Game in 2017.

Marrone coached at the collegiate level from 2009-12,  helping lead Syracuse to two eight-win seasons. He left the program with a 25-25 record.

If hired, Marrone would be working under Nick Saban and potentially Bill O'Brien, who is expected to be hired as Alabama's new offensive coordinator.
