Report: Red Sox 'remain high' on Enrique Hernandez

Free-agent infielder Enrique Hernandez is drawing interest from multiple teams across Major League Baseball. However, one team appears to be very high on the former Los Angeles Dodger.

According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, the Boston Red Sox "remain high" on Hernandez. He says the Mets are also among teams interested.

The Red Sox are likely targeting Hernandez to play second base. Boston's current depth chart at the position is Christian Arroyo, Michael Chavis and Dustin Pedroia, who likely won't take the field again due to knee issues.

Hernandez has spent the last six seasons with the Dodgers, slashing .240/.312/.425 with 68 home runs and 213 RBI. During the pandemic-shortened campaign, he slashed .230/.270/4.10 with five home runs and 20 RBI.

Before joining the Dodgers, the 29-year-old played for the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins.
