Analyst: Russell Wilson is playing last season in Seattle
Will 2021 be Russell Wilson's final season in Seattle? One analyst certainly thinks so. Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Analyst says Russell Wilson is playing his final season with Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson seemingly silenced trade rumors for at least the rest of 2021 when he reported for organized team activities earlier in the week and then directly said on Thursday: "I did not request a trade."

To quote the great Lee Corso: Not so fast, my friend.

CBS Sports' Adam Schein is the latest person to say he is not buying what Wilson tried to sell on Thursday:

Schein explained Friday:

"His agent gave an on-record list of teams to the great Adam Schefter of places he would accept a trade. If Wilson had a more manageable cap number this year, or if Seattle had a first-rounder in 2022, which they don't because of the Jamal Adams trade, Russ would be an ex-Seahawk. Now with the number more manageable in the future, I fully expect this to be the final season Wilson plays in the great Northwest."

Schein continued: "He wanted to be in Chicago. That ship has sailed."

During Friday's edition of "Get Up," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on the situation involving Wilson and the Seahawks: "There's a feeling around the league that if Seattle is not at least on the cusp of a Super Bowl this year that this could get very ugly once again."

For now, Wilson is Seattle's QB1 through February and the end of the current NFL year. If he isn't playing in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium, though, it seems a guarantee reports will again surface he wants out next offseason.
