Hall of Famer Rod Woodson: Raiders will be 'in trouble' if they lose Week 3 vs. Titans

It's certainly going to be an interesting game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

Both teams were expected to make some noise in the AFC this season if not be straight-up contenders. Both teams, as of two weeks, are winless, though, as they head into their Week 3 matchup against each other.

Something has to give for one of these teams. On the other end of a loss is an 0-3 start, which isn't insurmountable, but it's really not great. 

"Is it a panic game? Eh, no. I can't say panic after two weeks, Hall of Fame cornerback Rod Woodson said of the matchup in a video on The 33rd Team.

It's not time to panic, but the former Raider does think that Vegas needs to pick up a win in order to maintain some sort of competitiveness within the stacked AFC West.

"What I can say for the Raiders, who are 0-2 playing in the AFC West...you have the match your guys," Woodson said, referencing the other teams in the division. "K.C. is 2-0, the Chargers are 1-1, and Denver is 1-1. You have to be able to match them. If you can't match them it's going to be tough to play on the back end of the season and try to get into the playoffs."

To Woodson's point, the Kansas City Chiefs are a perennial Super Bowl contender with Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid driving the bus. The Los Angeles Chargers have a developing superstar quarterback in Justin Herbert and an extremely talented roster, and the Denver Broncos just went out and traded for future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason. 

The Raiders did work of their own, hiring Josh McDaniels away from the New England Patriots and trading with the Green Bay Packers for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. Still, you are what your record says you are in the NFL. For as good as the Raiders are on paper, even they can't afford to get behind, especially when considering the level of teams in their division.

"It's going to be critical that they match some of these wins with these other teams in the AFC West," Woodson said.

With the Broncos and Chiefs up next on the schedule for Vegas after this game against Tennessee, saying that getting a win against the Titans is "critical" is almost downplaying how important this contest is for the Raiders.
