Lane Kiffin says Mississippi State fans stole Ole Miss QB's jersey ahead of Egg Bowl

If you're wondering how intense college football rivalries get, look no further than the Egg Bowl.

According to Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, before No. 7 Ole Miss and Mississippi State kicked off in Starkville, Miss., Saturday, Mississippi State fans broke into the Ole Miss locker room — first at 10 p.m. Thursday and then at 3 a.m. Friday — and stole the jersey of Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.

Kiffin told ESPN's Marty Smith that Ole Miss had cameras in the locker room that captured the incident.

Per CBS Sports, Kiffin later said, "I guess you expect nothing less from these people," in reference to the Mississippi State fan base.

Ole Miss starts fast against Mississippi State in Egg Bowl

Friday's game is the 122nd edition of the Egg Bowl between Mississippi's two preeminent universities and the 82nd consecutive year that the game has taken place. Ole Miss leads the series 66-49-6 and has won the last two editions of the game.

Chambliss seemed unaffected by the alleged theft in the first quarter of his first Egg Bowl at Ole Miss. Chambliss completed all seven of his first-quarter passes for 118 yards and threw a touchdown pass to put the Rebels up 14-7 at the end of the first period of play.
