Seemingly, the entirety of the college football world has been in flux with several big-time coaches either leaving or being fired.
The biggest name of the bunch has been Lane Kiffin, leaving Ole Miss to become the head coach of LSU, but Auburn just landed a new head coach as well in former South Florida HC Alex Golesh.
Regime change always means change on the recruiting trail, and though Auburn has to be excited about the hiring of Golesh, it did suffer a massive recruiting loss not long after his hiring was announced.
Auburn has lost the commitment of five-star safety Bralan Womack, who is ranked as the No. 1 safety in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Womack didn't just decommit with no plan in mind, though, because he didn't wait long to find a new home. The five-star didn't just leave Auburn, but rather, he flipped his commitment from Auburn to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
From Flowood, Mississippi, this gives a chance for Womack to play college football near home. Starkville, Mississippi, home of the Bulldogs, is a quick two-hour drive northeast of Flowood.

It was a tough 5-7 season for Mississippi State, but if this commitment holds and Womack ends up signing with the Bulldogs, head coach Jeff Lebby will have to feel pretty good about what he and his staff were able to do on the 2026 recruiting trail.
Not only is Womack the top safety in the country, but he's one of the best overall recruits as well. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 30 overall recruit in the country. Womack is also the No. 2 overall player from the state of Mississippi, and that's huge for the Bulldogs because they do have a chance to start cleaning up in-state with the mess that is going on at Ole Miss right now.
Womack is Mississippi State's 25th commitment in a class that's now ranked No. 30 nationally. In four seasons as a varsity football player, Womack notched 116 tackles and 16 interceptions
He's without a doubt the crown jewel of this class, and he's, frankly, one of the best recruits the Bulldogs have landed in quite a few years.
