Mark Williams powers Suns to big win over Timberwolves

Suns center Mark Williams showed his true potential during Phoenix's big win on Monday night.

Williams, 23, put up one of his best games of the season to date as he helped lead the Suns to a 108-105 win that went down to the wire over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He scored an extremely efficient 22 points in 29 minutes, his second-highest total of the season, while also adding seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Williams was an impressive 7-of-9 from the field and even hit a three-pointer as well.

Williams is proving to be one of the most underrated acquisitions of the offseason

Williams is in the midst of his first season in Phoenix after spending his first three NBA seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. He was traded to the Suns in June in exchange for Vasilije Micic, the draft rights to Liam McNeeley and a 2029 first-round pick.

Before that deal, Williams almost joined the Lakers in the middle of last season. He was sent to the Lakers, but the trade was rescinded when Williams failed a physical.

Williams has been a steady force for the surprising Suns, entering Monday averaging 12.7 points, 8.7 boards and 1.0 assists in 19 games played.

The 15th overall selection of the 2022 NBA Draft has now reached double-digits in scoring in eight consecutive games as Phoenix currently sits as the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference at 14-10.

They are also now just one game back of Minnesota, thanks to beating the Timberwolves despite Anthony Edwards' 40-point monster performance.
