Arch Manning might be the last piece of the Myles Garrett trade

The Cleveland Browns have been trying to find their franchise quarterback for more than two decades.

Even now, they're still holding an underwhelming competition between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, with no clear favorite yet.

But after trading Myles Garrett, that might finally change. Of course, that won't be the case this year.

According to CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco, the Garrett trade has finally set the Browns up to end their quarterback woes by targeting Texas' Arch Manning.

The Browns could go all-in for Arch Manning

"If I were the Cleveland Browns fans, this is what I would do: I would start watching a lot of the University of Texas. That’s what I would do. I would keep an eye on the University of Texas because they have a quarterback by the name of Manning down there and their owner, Jimmy Haslam, is very tight with the Manning family," said Prisco.

Manning is widely projected to be a top-three pick in 2027. He would've also likely been the first player off the board in 2026, even ahead of Fernando Mendoza.

The young signal-caller still needs to polish his game and had a somewhat disappointing campaign last season, but the talent is there, not to mention the pedigree.

The Browns will now have two first-round picks in 2027, one of which might be near the top if they struggle to compete at a high level again this season.

As such, they could package both of those selections to get the highly coveted quarterback prospect:

"I think this sets them up to go make the move if they have to next year to go get Arch Manning. And that’s how this trade will ultimately be judged. Right now, if you had to grade it, you’d say Rams, they killed it right now making this move. Ten years down the road, if they end up with Arch Manning and he becomes the answer at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, who haven't had one in forever, then they’ll win the trade," he added.

Of course, that makes perfect sense to a degree, but it might be much more complicated than that.

For starters, the Browns won't be the only suitor for Manning. Other teams like the New York Jets also have multiple first-round picks and a big need at the position.

Moreover, the Mannings have a history of meddling to ensure they play in favorable destinations, like they did when they forced the then-San Diego Chargers to trade Eli Manning to the New York Giants.

The Browns also tried to trade for Eli at the time, and while Haslam didn't own the team back then, it's hard to believe the Mannings will want their heir to play for a franchise with a history of dysfunction and a small market.
