Former Bills HC Sean McDermott reappears at NFL team's training camp

The Buffalo Bills cut ties with head coach Sean McDermott in January, after Terry Pegula decided to take the franchise in a different direction. McDermott had a successful run with the team, going 98-50 in the regular season and having an 8-8 playoff record. The team also made it to the divisional round four times in the past five years.

It's the kind of record some NFL franchises dream of, but it wasn't enough for the Bills. Following an overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC divisional round of the NFL postseason, McDermott was told to walk.

But, a coach with his kind of success would easily land another gig in the NFL, if that's what McDermott wants. Now, it appears another NFL team is interested or at least spending time with the former Bills coach.

Sean McDermott shows up at the New York Giants' minicamp practice with general manager Joe Schoen

On Monday, New York Giants beat reporter Pat Leonard reported that McDermott showed up at the Giants' minicamp.

"Former Bills head coach Sean McDermott just walked onto the field here at Giants minicamp practice with (general manager) Joe Schoen," Leonard stated on X.

Let the jaw-dropping begin. The possibilities are endless for McDermott in New York. First of all, it's not too far from Buffalo, at least compared to a franchise out west, so there's familiarity here. The Giants are in the NFC, and the Bills are in the AFC, so he may have to study up on the conference, but McDermott is the kind of veteran coach who would absolutely enhance the Giants' staff. Now, New York fans can wait and hope that this McDermott sighting with Schoen makes for another blockbuster addition to the Giants' coaching staff.
