The Seattle Seahawks acquired wide receiver and kick returner Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints in November 2025, and he flashed his big-play abilities on multiple occasions as he helped Seattle earn a Super Bowl LX win over the New England Patriots in February.
Shaheed and the Seahawks will open the upcoming season with a Super Bowl rematch versus the Patriots that will be held in Seattle on Sept. 9. During a recent chat with Dan Chalcraft of SportsBoom US, Shaheed made it clear he's confident he and his teammates can repeat as champions.
"Yeah, I’m very excited," Shaheed said. "I believe our team is bound for another Super Bowl. The first game is going to be interesting. We play the Patriots again, a Super Bowl rematch, so I’m super excited about that, and then we play [the Los Angeles Rams] on Christmas, so that’s going to be another good one. Plenty of games that I’m excited for, but those are the main two."
Over nine regular-season games with the Seahawks, Shaheed tallied 15 receptions for 188 yards. He also recorded seven rushes for 64 yards.
In Seattle's Week 16 win over the Rams, Shaheed returned a punt 58 yards to the house for a touchdown. In the Seahawks' 41-6 divisional-round playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers, he returned the game's opening kickoff for a score.
In March, Shaheed received a three-year, $51M deal that included $34.7M in guaranteed money to stay with the Seahawks.
"I’m super excited to get a full season with these guys, and I’m super excited to have a new offensive mind in the building," Shaheed said about remaining with Seattle and working with new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury. "We’re going to continue to go out there and compete. Excited about that, and to get a full season with (quarterback) Sam Darnold and to continue to be myself and to continue to make plays for the team."
Former Seattle OC Klint Kubiak is now the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
On May 26, ESPN's Brady Henderson noted that Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has told his players throughout the offseason that they should embrace a "run it forward" mentality instead of a "running it back" mindset. Shaheed seems to have heard those messages loud and clear.
"Yeah, it’s the same mindset that we had last year, and that’s to go out there to compete to win a championship, and we know we can do it," Shaheed explained. "The coaches believe in us. We believe in ourselves, and we know what it takes. We won last year, so we know it’s going to be a long season, and we are ready and super excited for the challenge."
