Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska has passed 600 inches of snowfall this season.

In a celebratory post to Instagram this morning, officials of the resort wrote, "welcome to the 600 inch club, Alyeska fans."

The mid-mountain saw 18 inches in the past 24 hours and has a snow depth of 114 inches.

Currently, there are 70 out of 76 trails open, and Ski Patrol is evaluating conditions for a likely opening of North Face from Chuck’s Gate down. The Southside areas will likely remain closed.

The trees are covered in a fresh dusting, and the visibility is not at 100%, as you can see from the top of Glacier Bowl Express, shown below.

The storm intensified for Alyeska through the evening, bringing another 16 inches of blower powder overnight, coated the slopes of the resort.

Officials at Alyeska remind skiers to be patient with the mountain ops teams as they dig out their stations and prepare to open the mountain safely.

Alaska DOT will also be conducting avalanche mitigation on the Seward highway today from mileposts 99 to 90. Motorists should expect delays of up to 60 minutes between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

Today’s forecast is calling for more snow to start, transitioning to mixed precipitation this afternoon, increasing winds, and high temperatures of around 37 degrees.
