Thursday night, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a fire was reported at Timberline Lodge, Oregon, according to a social media post from the hotel and ski resort.

The fire burned in Timberline Lodge's headhouse attic and exterior roof area.

The hotel evacuated all guests, and no injuries were reported.

First responders arrived soon after the fire began and extinguished it by approximately 11:00 p.m., continuing to spray water on the burned area amid high winds to prevent re-ignition.

The hotel is closed until further notice, and the accompanying ski resort is closed today, April 19th.

While an investigation is underway, Timberline Lodge already suspects fireplace embers caused the fire.

On social media, the hotel noted that "damage is somewhat minimal with water contained in headhouse and lobby areas and no internal fire or smoke damage."

Constructed in 1937 and later designated a National Historic Landmark, Timberline Lodge is a significant Oregonian tourist attraction that draws millions of visitors annually. The hotel—perched on the flanks of Mt. Hood—is also known for its appearance in a film adaption of Stephen King's novel The Shining.
