Kirkwood Ski Resort, CA, is one of the more wind-prone mountains in these northeast wind events and has been reported to see gusts of up to 150+ mph this morning, according to Tahoe Daily Snow.

Tahoe Daily Snow is betting no one wants to ski in these conditions, saying, the guest would put wind chills in the -20s - 30s with temperatures around 10 degrees. But if that isn't enough, the weather forecasting service writes that "you'd also blow away if you were up there."
The Chair 6 station shows recorded gusts of 126-150 mph over the course of Thursday's early morning.
Kirkwood's terrain, spread between 2,300 acres of terrain, with 2,000 feet of vertical drop, ranges from mellow groomers to intense chutes, cornices, and cliffs.
The ski area also spans multiple peaks including Martin Point, Covered Wagon, Glove Rock, The Sisters, and Thimble.
This is hardly the first time Kirkwood has seen extreme wind. In 2020, ABC10 and the National Weather Service teamed up to examine whether or not the reported 209 mph gust at the resort was legit.

At around 9100 feet, the sensor at Chair 6 at Kirkwood has seen remarkably high numbers for wind speeds. The reporter noted that Alpine Meadows also sees high winds at similar vertical heights.
While the 209 mph gust was thought to be likely an error, as the reporter noted in the above video, Kirkwood does indeed see strong winds. Today was no exception.
It is also worth noting that almost 200 mph winds are not unthinkable. There stands a 199-mph record for the fastest-ever recorded wind in California, measured on Ward Mountain in Palisades.
