Ever wanted to ski and bike on the same day?
Mammoth Mountain, California, expects to host a limited opening of its bike park on May 23, 2025. Simultaneously, the ski resort plans to remain open for skiing and riding through Memorial Day weekend (at least).
So, between May 23 and the end of Memorial Day weekend, you can carve slush in the morning and slash dirt in the afternoon—and maybe longer.

The bike park at Mammoth Mountain will remain open until September 14, conditions permitting. At full capacity, it boasts a vertical drop of around 3,000 feet, an acreage of 3,500, and 84 miles of single track. The longest trail in the park, Off the Top, spans almost 15 miles when linked to Beach Cruiser and Downtown.
Passes for the park are on sale now. If you’re willing to shell out top dollar, the priciest Mammoth Bike Park Pass runs $379. The cheaper option, which doesn’t provide access to the ski resort’s lifts, gondolas, or shuttles, costs $149. Those who’ve already grabbed a 2025-2026 Ikon Pass net two free tickets to the bike park (Ikon Pass Base holders get one).
Tune-ups, rentals, and lessons are all available on-site.
Mountain biking is a fun off-season diversion, but POWDER, first and foremost, is about skiing, so we thought we’d remind you that even as the summer looms, you don’t need to hang up the sticks quite yet.
Mammoth Mountain, as we already noted, is aiming to keep the lifts spinning for skiers through at least Memorial Day weekend. Palisades Tahoe is on a same program with a planned closing day of May 26, and Donner Ski Ranch, another ski area in the Lake Tahoe, California, region, plans to be open on May 10 and May 11.
Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, meanwhile, is adhering to its usual stay-open-as-late-as-possible schedule and could benefit from a round of late-season snowfall. Last year, the ski resort welcomed skiers and snowboarders until June 16, but we’ll have to wait and see how far Arapahoe Basin makes it this year.
