Pleasant Mountain, ME, has a big upgrade on the way.

Officials at the resort teased the announcement to Instagram yesterday, writing simply, "coming soon..."

With the most night skiing in New England, the Western Maine resort needed a way to get more people up the hill faster. This upgrade is the solution.

The new chair is a Doppelmayr detachable high-speed quad, and will replace the current Summit Triple. This high-speed quad, named The Summit Express, will be installed during the offseason to be ready for the 24/25 winter season.

The current Summit Triple can be found at the center-right of the map, where the Summit Express will be. See below.

Construction will begin soon after the season wraps up with the removal of the Summit Triple chairlift and site preparation, followed by tower and terminal installation.

The Summit Express has an uphill capacity of 2400 people per hour, and can move at a speed of 1000 feet per minute, allowing it to transport people to the unloading gate at the top in just 4.5 minutes.

Renderings of the new lift have been created. See below.

This is the first high-speed chair for Pleasant Mountain, marking an important turning point for the resort.

We're excited to see the new chair, and skiers reactions to having a high speed quad at Pleasant Mountain, in real life next winter.
