Northeast ski resorts are having a moment as the snow stacks up.

One benefit—among many—of the March powder bonanza is the prospect of reopening previously shuttered chairlifts.

That's precisely what Sugarbush Resort, Vermont, plans to do today.

The Castlerock Double is one of a few chairlifts that access Sugarbush's upper mountain, primarily expert terrain.

While the prospect of Castlerock reopening is exciting, there is a caveat, per Sugarbush's snow report published yesterday afternoon.

"Saturday is looking particularly windy at the summits," Sugarbush wrote. "We may see wind holds throughout the weekend."

But that's the game you play when March delivers blizzard conditions. Sugarbush has picked up 18 inches of snow this week, and another round of snowfall is likely.

One forecast from meteorologist Chris Tomer predicted that Sugarbush could see more than two feet of snow before the end of the month.

The National Weather Service is feeling similarly bullish. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect Vermont-wide from Friday evening through late Saturday night.

Sugarbush skiers, this isn't a drill. You know what to do.
