Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the NWSL. This is the third report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on March 16. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through games on March 31. The NWSL saw an increase in teams for 2024 with the return of the Utah Royals and the expansion team Bay FC. Currently, only Gotham FC has yet to have their home opener.

Following this weekend, the NWSL will be on a one-week break due to the FIFA International Match Window from April 1 – 9, 2024. The USWNT will be participating in the 2024 She Believes Cup along with Canada, Japan, and Brazil.

NWSL Attendance: Week in review

The weekend saw the expansion team Bay FC sell out their home opener at PayPal Park in San Jose, California. Additionally, the Kansas City Current drew their second straight sell-out crowd (11,500). Meanwhile, San Diego and Portland continue to set the bar high with reported attendances over 16,000.

After three weeks, only Portland, Seattle, and Orlando’s numbers are down from last season. Overall, after 20 games, the league’s overall attendance is up from 2023’s final average by 1,562 fans. Additionally, Gotham FC’s home opener isn’t until April 14 against the Kansas City Current.

Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual stadium’s website. Also reported are each team’s individual high and low games for the season. Finally, all attendance numbers are provided through the league’s website.

The Week Ahead

As previously mentioned, the NWSL will be on a one-week break due to the FIFA International Match Window from April 1 – 9, 2024. Regular season NWSL play will resume on Friday, April 12 with Houston facing Washington and Orlando heading to Sandy, Utah to face the Royals.
