Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the NWSL. This is the fourth report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on March 16. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through games on April 14. The NWSL saw an increase in teams for 2024 with the return of the Utah Royals and the expansion team Bay FC.

Currently. After a week off due to the FIFA international break (from April 1 – 9, 2024), the league resumed play on April 12. Finally, Gotham FC was the final team to host their home opener.

NWSL Attendance: Week in review

For this week from April 12 – 14, the league had all 14 teams return to action. The expansion team saw the largest crowd of the week with 16,719. The smallest crowd belongs to the Chicago Red Stars with just 3,168. The top three teams in attendance did not have a home game for this week (Angel City, San Diego & Portland).

After four weeks, five teams are below their average from 2023. Meanwhile, San Diego, Angel City, Houston, and Gotham FC are seeing the largest increases from 2023 currently. Overall, the league’s average compared to 2023 is up by 463.

Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual stadium’s website. Also reported are each team’s individual high and low games for the season. Finally, all attendance numbers are provided through the league’s website.

The Week Ahead

All 14 teams will once again be in action this weekend. The featured matchup will be Gotham FC visiting the Washington Spirit at 1:00 pm on CBS. The ION doubleheader on Saturday features Bay FC at Kansas City followed by the Dash at Portland.
